Civil War Front Line Book 1 Bk 1 Paul Jenkins Ramon Bachs Books

Of all the Marvel books dealing with the Civil War storyline, this one was the most average. My meaning? Some books were awesome during this period, a few were downright terrible, but the majority made up a good read. "Front Line" was none of those. Being an anthology type of book, it's quality is based on each individual story; and each fluctuated drastically.

In my opinion, only the Speedball in jail piece was worth reading. This arc of Robbie behind bars added new and interesting information not covered in the other Civil War titles. To me, the tales dealing with the reporters were just a rehash of situations already covered in previous books. At this point in the story, the repetitive nature was more annoying than enlightening.

Civil War Front Line Book 1 Bk 1 Paul Jenkins Ramon Bachs Books Reviews

Art was great and the story well written. It's been awhile since I've read or collected comic books. But it wasn't one of those couldn't put it down stories. Not sure why. Maybe because my favorite times in comic books was collecting them in the 80's and I loved those stories. Or maybe because I haven't seen how the characters had changed.
Great and addicting story
This tells alot of great side stories, fleshing out the entire story more and including alot of favorite characters. Must Read!
I have read this comic book before and I loved it. I bought for my son to read and he loved it to. This book was shipped fast and came in just it was described. I will purchase from this seller in the near future.
This is one of the first comic books I have read. Its different than a normal book or other fluff. I really like that it takes something serious and really pits me between the two sides.
The Speedball storyline A maximum-security prison in the lower 48, "maybe Alabama or Texas," and 99% of the inmates are white? Does this seem a bit PC or revisionist or just spineless to you? This is what you have to expect in this cross-over. I've been away for a few years, but in other CW books, Falcon has an attitude and Luke Cage is bigger and badder than anyone. And the Yancy St. leader confronting Ben Grimm...same thing. But, I guess it just makes everyone feel better -- or prevents our own civil war. Something. Too bad; everything else I like.
I read the Civil War books a while ago and figured that the Frontline books would be worth a read. The story deals with a number of characters associated with Civil War...Speedball, the sole surviving member of the group which was in Stamford, the event which caused the death of 60 children and sparked demand for the Registration Act...the reporters covering the story, such as Ben Urich, who sense that not everything is right with the Act and serious questions need to be asked (such as are they using super villains)...and Wonder Man essentially being blackmailed into working for SHIELD. In essence, Civil War dealt with the fight, but Frontline deals more with the question of ethics, morality and the true repercussions for everyone after the Registration Act.

The artwork is great and really shines in panel view. What really makes this book stand out is the way it makes the reader think about the effect of the Act, and I especially liked the incorporation of poems and letters written by people during past real wars (American Civil War, Vietnam, WWII, etc), which helped compare and contrast the events in the book to real historical events....it truly impressed me.

I highly recommend this book, particularly for people who read the Civil War books.

I read this on my 7"kindle fire HD with panel view and had no problem reading it.
