I read this book almost thirty years ago and loved it. So much so that even after I'd long forgotten the title and author, I would ask bookworms I'd just met whether they remembered a kids' mystery book about a boy and a librarian and a weathervane. I finally happened across a different Bellairs book in a used bookstore and it jogged my memory. (Occasioned by a loud gasp that scared my daughter half to death.) A few Amazon searches later, and I FOUND IT!! I read it in just two days and was so happy to see that it held up. Maybe not really adult-level reading, but fun and mysterious and just as wonderful as I'd remembered. Bellairs is wonderful, and this is no exception!

Really cute and well written. A few typos in the version but nothing terrible. Super easy read for an adult but would be liked by kids, too.
Ordered as a gift for a 12-year-old grandson. He loves John Bellairs books!
