One Wore Blue Camerons Saga Civil War Trilogy Heather Graham Books

I might be a bit biased since I feel an odd connection to the civil war and the time period but I found this book to be perfection. I know there isn't any comparisons to GET A and that novel is entirely in its own ballpark but I somehow enjoyed and got more invested into this. Why? Crazy? Then perhaps I shall claim that on the amazing characters - Kieran and Jesse. They were perfect for each other and knew one another so well. Both knew exactly what to say or do to get under each other's skin. Kieran would push Jesse and he'd always pushed back - both giving as good as they received. Even when Kieran was infuriated and told him she hated him, she still loved him. I liked how she was his neighbor [he was 10 years her senior] and he got to watch her grow and mature into a fine southern belle. I loved how he would tease her and when she became of age he threw in the towel and said 'oh hell' and finally kissed her. Then we have Anthony - another young man who is pining after Kieran's heart. He was a perfect gentleman - a far cry from Jesse who was rough around the edges. Even though I was team Jesse, my heart did have a fondness for Anthony - how he rode out of his way to get Kieran to marry him - a bit as how things ended up for him though. And finally Jesse got what he wanted - Kieran as his wife even if he did have to cohorts her into it. Daniel was also a great character too an I can't wait to read his and their sisters story.

One Wore Blue Camerons Saga Civil War Trilogy Heather Graham Books Reviews

As an avid reader of anything about the Civil War, I am always amazed at how historically inaccurate many books are. This one is the exception. To say that Heather Graham has done her homework would be an understatement. She has a unique talent for blending history, romance, and sexual tension that grabs a reader from page one and doesn't let go. The hero of the story, Jesse Cameron is absolutely to die for! He's handsome, a doctor, a Union officer, a wealthy Virginia plantation owner-need I say more. He also has a strong sense of loyalty and honor that is often missing in romantic male lead characters. He is not one of those typical rakes that needs to be reformed by a good woman. He is already a great guy who doesn't play games and isn't afraid to admit what and who he wants. The story is wonderful and heartwrenching at the same time with beautifully developed main characters as well as secondary characters. I highly recommend this book as well as the two other books in the Cameron Civil War trilogy "One Wore Grey" and "One Rode West." This is the best Civil War series I have read.
Better than #1, and more story than continuous sex which rated higher for me. It was difficult to like the arrogant, selfish, stupid heroine. Still the hero's in the story helped make up for her lack of character or honor. Maybe there was an effort to copy Scarlett O'hara which would not be a complement and still fell short.
This novel of the Civil War is the first in a trilogy about the Camerons, a wealthy Virginia plantation family who find their loyalties divided when the Civil War breaks out. Most of this novel is told from the point of view of Kiernan Mackay, the spirited and beautiful neighbor of the Camerons who has loved the oldest Cameron brother, Jesse, for most of her life. Time and circumstances finally collaborate to get this couple together, but their bliss is short-lived when their beloved Virginia secedes from the Union and the lovers find themselves on opposite sides of the divide and neither is willing to compromise on their convictions. Jesse, an army surgeon, rides off to the North, leaving Kiernan behind in the little town of Harper's Ferry, which is about to find itself in the middle of a tug-of-war between the Union and the Confederacy. But war has a way of tearing people apart and throwing them back together in dramatic fashion, and as the bloody conflict rages on, Kiernan and Jesse begin to question their ideals, their loyalities, and their feelings for each other. This novel borderlines on being a bodice-ripper and it is a bit on the melodramatic side, but it's delicious and well-researched and I couldn't put it down. I've already put the next book in the trilogy on my wishlist.
This is the first in the Cameron Saga Civil War trilogy (and follows the Cameron stories told in Graham's North American Women trilogy). I highly recommend the whole Cameron Saga--all 6 books. They are rich in history, well-told romances with amazing detail, seamless dialog and a family of wonderful men and women you will love.

This story begins in 1859 with the Harper's Ferry incident involving abolitionist John Brown. Jesse Cameron is serving as a doctor for the federal troops under Jeb Stuart and his younger brother, Daniel, is serving under Robert Lee. They have grown up with the beautiful and independent Kiernan Miller in Tidewater, Virginia. Kiernan loves Jesse and is good friends with Daniel and their sister Christa. As they sense the approach of war, Jesse cannot abide a nation divided, but Kiernan is a loyal rebel, a Virginian who, like Daniel, supports the Confederacy. Jesse will choose to wear the Yankee uniform to support the Union, and though Kiernan loves him and has given herself to him, she will marry another, a loyal reb she does not love.

Right there, Graham had me. My heart was dying. Jesse was like all the Cameron men before him (see North American Women trilogy) tall, dark and handsome, strong, committed to the cause of liberty and truth--and capable of deeply loving his woman while brooking no rebellion. Ah...a real man. I wondered what Kiernan was thinking when she refused to marry him. I wanted to slap her several times. But alas, she was a blind rebel.

You will laugh and you will cry with this one, as you become a part of the lives of young people who were swept into the war that tore apart a nation and tore apart families...a time that shaped our nation. The ending is exciting, too. Graham has produced a series of keepers!
