LKH did herself a disservice here. The story was bland, and the characters were flat and lifeless despite being some of my favorites. The sex was room temperature, the dialogue was horrible, and the whole time I was kicking myself for paying to read this. LKH's books have been declining in quality for a while, though I still have hope she'll pull this series (along with the Merry Gentry one) out of their death spirals. This 'outtake' is no exception to the decline. Your money is better off in your wallet, and your time is better spent rereading earlier books in the series.
I 1st loved Anita Blake character, but now all her books are just mostly sex. The best part of this book is that it's short. I don't think I could have read much more
Niot a significant addition to the oeuvre. It's just one of the sex scenes, and I'm starting to find them more clinical than steamy, although this one had a bit less of Anita's tiresome explanations and angst-ful statements. I agree with other posters that this should have been a free download
This was a complete ripoff, and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth about the author and what her current motivations are for continuing to write.
I saw her facebook post about it and clicked my way over here and bought it without reading the reviews first. I plead temporary insanity on that point, but fortunately for me I was able to 'return' it (use the 'Actions' button on the 'Manage My ' page).
The content was far from 'steamy', unless you count what arises naturally from hot bathwater. One would think there should be some soul, some passion, some sensuality involved when one has 3 characters who are proven more than able to make a reader pant (back in the day). Alas, this is not the case here, and we are left with a dull, dry, cardboard-cutout version of what could have been. As has been pointed out in other reviews, the writing is juvenile and in desperate need of a thesaurus. And truly, LKH should get it through her head that flaccid bits are NOT sexy for the vast majority of women, many of whom read such things to mentally escape from flaccid bits. I'm assuming that's who she'd like to be buying her books, so it is worth taking note of, one would think!
It's not even porn, unless maybe you're thinking of bad 70's porn. At least -that- has comedic value.
It's pretty sad when I can read an Anita sex scene and think "Oh that poor thing, she needs some GOOD seein' to!"
I love Anita as much as any fan can, but I wish I hadn't spent money on this one. It's simply a chapter of sex. There is no plot. I should have read some reviews on it before I bought it, but I didn't because I thought "It's Anita Blake, what are the odds that it'll suck?" You can completely skip this "book" and move on to the next in the series with no harm, no foul. And yes, I know it said it was an "outtake", but it's really only a sex scene.
This us a super short sex story. Nothing to add to the Anita Blake world just sex with Asher and Jean Claude.
Totally not worth $3. The rest of the purchase was just a preview to Kiss The Dead which I already owned. This story could have been stuck in the middle of any of her books past Obsidian Butterfly and free. Sad that she just made money off me for this. I wont be purchasing her "novellas" again.
Wow, I am so tired of reading about how HUGE her boyfriends are,, how beautiful, etc. I actually like Micahs character because he is kind and gentle, same with Nathanial, but i am sick of the multi chapter sex scenes. I'm so unimpressed. I actually enjoyed her first books before she went nuts on the graphic sex scenes, and believe me when I say I'm no prude, but it gets old. And I think she must have several phrases set on macros because they say word for word the same thing in each book, such as the comments about her eyes, or her hair or her eight, or etc etc. I think it's time to give up on the series. They and Beauty suck!
